Lily Allen has lost her baby

POP star LILY ALLEN was “distraught” last night after losing her baby.

The singer, 22, had a miscarriage after returning from a romantic holiday with boyfriend ED SIMONS, 37. A source said: “They are in a state of shock.”

The heartbroken singer was eagerly looking forward to her first child - and turned her back on her party lifestyle in order to be the perfect mum.

Singer Lily, 22, and boyfriend Ed Simons, 37, were last night being comforted by family and friends after she had a miscarriage.

Lily and the Chemical Brothers star had just returned home after a romantic holiday in the Maldives when she tragically lost her baby.

A source said: “Lily and Ed are in a state of shock.

“The bad news has been really difficult for them to take and they are absolutely heartbroken.

“Lily’s entire outlook on life changed after she found out she was pregnant. She was looking forward to being a mum and starting a family with Ed.

“She had turned her back on her party girl image and had turned over a new leaf.

“They are surrounded by friends and family are offering support. It is a really difficult time for them.”

The couple have enjoyed a whirlwind romance since they began dating a few months ago.

Lily - who first saw Ed perform when she was a 12-year-old fan at Glastonbury festival with her comedian dad KEITH - fell for him at a Chemical Brothers gig in London’s Trafalgar Square in September.

And in December The Sun exclusively revealed she was pregnant with her first child. Since then she had re-arranged her work schedule to fit around the birth.

Lily had a huge global hit with her debut album Alright Still, and is due to release her second album later this year.

The singer recently told how her pregnancy was a huge surprise.

She said: “I’ve looked forward to being stable my whole life. My parents are amazing, but it has been a whirlwind upbringing.

“I have got my eye on the prize, which is having kids and getting married and cooking dinner and doing homework with my children.”

Lily burst on to the pop scene in summer 2006 with her upbeat single Smile. Her debut effort went straight to No1, while her album reached No2 and is up for a prestigious Grammy award this year.

She also inspired a new generation of female singers, including Brit-nominated KATE NASH.

Her spokesman said: “We can confirm that Lily Allen has suffered a miscarriage. She and her partner Ed Simons will be making no further comment and we ask that their privacy be respected during this difficult time.”
