Sivasspor takes lead at Turkcell Super League


Central Anatolian club Sivasspor raised to the top of the Turkcell Super League after beating tough rival Denizlispor Roosters 2-0 leaving the league powerhouses trio of Galatasaray, Besiktas and Fenerbahce in its wake.

The leaders match was played at Sivas Eylul Stadium where in the 49th minute Musa Aydin opened the scoring and fellow midfielder Ilhan Ummak doubled Sivasspor's advantage in stoppage time.

Victory puts Sivasspor coach Bulent Uygun's side two points clear of Galatasaray who lost 2-0 to Fenerbahce in the Istanbul derby on Saturday night.

Konyaspor came back from a goal down to claim a 4-2 win over Manisaspor at the Konya Ataturk Stadium to climb up to seventh place in the table, on Sunday. Filip Holosko opened the scoring in the first minute for the visitors but Murat Hacioglu levelled matters in the fifth minute.

Holosko (11) struck back to give Manisaspor a one-goal lead heading into the half-time break but the home side were quickly back on terms when Hacioglu equalized in the 52nd minute.

Duarte Neca put Konyaspor ahead for the first time in the game in 54th minute and Murat Hacioglu ensured the points were safe with an 85th-minute strike.

Also on Sunday Trabzonspor Black Sea Storm beat Gaziantepspor 3-2 despite reduced to 10 men after having goalkeeper Ahmet Sahin off in the second half.

Umut Bulut put the home side ahead in the first minute and Gokdeniz Karadeniz added a second in the 15th minute. Sahin received his marching orders in the 51st minute and replacement Oliveira Jefferson leaked two goals as Ekrem Dag (72) and Antonio De Nigris (88) pulled Gaziantepspor level. But midfielder Karadeniz popped up with a dramatic 89th-minute winner as Trabzonspor took the points.

Genclerbirligi played out a 0-0 draw with Ankaraspor and Istanbul Buyuksehir's match with Genclerbirligi also ended goalless.

The conclusion of round 15 sees Sivasspor on top of the ladder with 34 points, two ahead of Galatasaray and three up on Fenerbahce. In fourth spot is Besiktas with 28 points, well clear of Kayserispor, Ankaragucu and Konyaspor, all on 22.

Denizlispor is eighth with 21 points, with Istanbul Buyuksehir Belediyespor next on 20 and both OFTAS and Trabzonspor on 19. On 18 points is Bursaspor in 12th place, followed by Manisaspor on 16 and Gaziantepspor and Rizespor filling the 14th and 15th rungs on the ladder with 15 points.

Genclerbirligi is 16th with 14 points, followed by Ankaraspor on 12 and trailing the pack is Kasimpasa, with eight points from its 15 matches played.
